JAGUAR XE SV PROJECT 8
To make the Jaguar Project 8 even more exclusive, this model has a very limited production. There will only be 300 models made around the world. Each of these are going to be assembled by hand by the team at the SVO Technical Centre located in Warwickshire, England. If you are lucky enough to spot one driving around Ontario, savour the moment.
The Project 8 is made by SVO, Special Vehicle Operations. This Jaguar division is known for its specialist engineers and creating the most luxurious and fastest vehicles. These rare Jaguar sports cars always have state-of-the-art technology and the 2018 Jaguar XE SV Project 8 continues this trend.
DESIGN
When you sit inside the Jaguar XE SV Project 8, you will have no doubt that this vehicle was designed with racing in mind. The Jaguar XE SV Project 8 includes four ebony leather-trimmed seats featuring oyster contrast stitching. The front seats are actually performance seats with a special magnesium frame for weight reduction.
To make the most of the Jaguar XE SV Project 8 specs, it is also incredibly lightweight. Jaguar used a lightweight aluminum architecture they pioneered and paired with carbon fibre. You can find carbon fibre in the rear spoiler, front splitter, side skirts, bumpers, hood, and fenders, all of which help keep the vehicle light to maximize performance and agility.
Take advantage of the Interactive Driver Display in high definition, providing the most crucial information at only a glance. Shift gears using the paddles on the three-spoke steering wheel wrapped in Alcantara or with the pistol shift selector trimmed in carbon fibre. A fighter jet inspired the pistol shift, and you won’t find it on another Jaguar XE.
UNDER THE HOOD
The 2018 Jaguar XE SV Project 8 is the most extreme of all Jaguar performance vehicles so far. Although there isn’t an announced Jaguar Project 8 price, you can expect it to be expensive. After all, the Jaguar XE starts at $43,900 in the base configuration and goes up to $61,500 in the top-of-the-line XE. Since the SV Project 8 is a special version created with enhanced performance and unique features, you can expect it to cost more than the top-of-the-line regularly available version.
As a performance-oriented model, the Jaguar XE SV Project 8 specs include an incredibly powerful engine, a 5-liter V8 with a supercharger and 592 horsepower. This makes the Jaguar the most powerful of all street-legal Jaguar sports cars throughout the brand’s history. Get it up to speed and you will be driving 322 km/h. It goes 0-100 km/h in only 3.3 seconds.
Driving the Jaguar XE SV Project 8 gives you access to the suspension derived from motorsport vehicles. Even the damper mounts were adjusted, becoming ball-jointed as a way to improve response. When driving, you can switch between one of two ride heights, one that is designed for the track and one for the road. The all-wheel-drive system has been modified to enhance agility as well as driver feel. Despite the all-wheel drive, the Jaguar XE SV Project 8 handles like you would expect from a two-door supercar. The Intelligent Driveline Dynamics even includes an electronic active rear differential.
PERFORMANCE-ENHANCING FEATURES
In addition to the Jaguar XE SV Project 8 and its lightweight, powerhouse of an engine, it features a long list of other features designed to enhance its performance. The front splitter is deep and adjustable, while the rear spoiler is also adjustable. Even the angle of the rear spoiler is tunable, so you can choose between maximizing downforce and reducing drag. Once you hit 300 km/h, the rear spoiler can produce 122 kg of downforce.
To make sure you are able to stop with confidence, the 2018 Jaguar XE SV Project 8 also has the biggest and most technologically advanced of all brakes to ever be on a Jaguar. The 400 mm carbon ceramic discs include six piston calipers in front, all of which are lightweight. Look to the Adaptive Dynamics system and you will notice that the version in the Jaguar XE SV Project 8 is specially tuned to feature a new Track Mode.
Look at the wheels and you will find lightweight forged alloys. Ones that are lighter and stronger compared to conventional cast alloy. The result is a superior ride quality and handling. The wheels also have carbon inserts to reduce drag. On the wheels you will find Michelin Sport cup 2 tires that maximize comfort as well as grip.
PERSONALIZATION
One of the things Ontario drivers will love about the Jaguar XE SV Project 8 is that this vehicle can be completely personalized. Pick one of the three standard colors or, if you prefer, you can also opt for one of the five SVO Premium Palette colors. There is even a Bespoke by SVO edition that is unique. You get to choose 10,000 other accent and body colors in addition to painted brake calipers, racing-inspired decals, and a commissioning plaque.
