Jaguar is a brand that has always been known for the character of its luxury sports cars. It's quite ironic since the current range of vehicles from the British manufacturer is mainly composed of SUVs. However, don't think for a moment that they have turned their back on sedans. Jaguar was waiting for the right moment to offer new cars, and it seems that time is coming soon.
Indeed, the British manufacturer recently announced its intention to launch several new electric models in the coming years. One of its main goals is to put a new 4-door luxury sedan on the road.
The rumors
Not much is known about Jaguar's future electric sedan, except for the few rumors circulating everywhere on the web in recent weeks. First, an expected range of around 430 miles or nearly 700 kilometers on a single charge has been mentioned. This is a very ambitious figure, but it should be expected that more modest numbers will be seen in North America since these figures were calculated using the WLTP method, which is not used here.
The new sedan from the British manufacturer promises to be the most powerful mass-produced car ever built by the brand. Therefore, one can expect a power output of over 600 horsepower, a milestone that even the current most powerful model of the brand, with its supercharged 5.0-liter V8 developing 575 horsepower, does not achieve.
A new platform
The sedan will not be the only new model joining the ranks of the brand in the coming years. In fact, Jaguar is already planning the arrival of two other vehicles based on the same platform as this one. However, it is not known whether they will be SUVs or other types of vehicles, as no information has been mentioned about them.
As for the price, the news is not as good. The most popular rumors suggest a starting price around $100,000 US, which is over $135,000 with the current exchange rate. Therefore, we can expect that the new 4-door all-electric sedan from the British manufacturer will be a direct rival to the Tesla Model S and other emerging cars in the segment. Jaguar has always had a presence in the luxury large sedan niche, and I am excited to see what they have in store for us with their new car.
